FAQ

From what age is it recommended for children to start karting?

Karting for children can begin as early as 4-6 years old, depending on the child's height, maturity, and desire to participate in sports. The first steps take place in a safe environment, alongside coaches at karting tracks that are adapted for young athletes.

Is it possible to join the TEAM with no karting experience?

Yes, we also invite future team members who do not have experience in karting to join. Karting starts with the basics – familiarization with the equipment, safety rules, and driving principles, and training is adapted individually, so karting and this sport are accessible even to complete beginners.

What is the difference between sport karting and recreational karting?

Competitive karting focuses on consistent improvement, understanding the machinery, and track work, whereas recreational karting is more of a one-off driving experience without the commitment to regular training. Both the tracks and the karts differ: competitive karts are faster and require greater skill to handle.

How does the team prepare to participate in karting competitions?

When karting competitions are on the agenda, preparation begins with training sessions focused on reading the track, tactics, and handling the machinery. Drivers are prepared progressively—moving from basic skills to an understanding of how to conduct themselves at the start, during the race, and in the pre- and post-race periods. This ensures that participating in a tournament is not a chaotic attempt, but a well-considered and safe step in the sport.

How do you know if a karting team is the right choice?

If consistency, a clear direction, and the opportunity to grow in the sport of karting alongside its community are important to you, a karting team is truly an excellent choice.

Do the athletes in the team train using their own equipment?

Drivers can train using the team's equipment and, if desired, switch to their own. Should you plan to purchase your own kart, we would be happy to provide advice on any questions that may arise.

Can karting also be for children?

Yes, karting for children is a completely common and widely practiced sport worldwide. Karting adapted for children differs slightly in terms of machinery, speed, and safety features, as smaller, easier-to-handle karts are used and training sessions take place under the supervision of coaches. Karting allows children to develop coordination, reaction skills, concentration, and a sense of responsibility in a safe environment.

Does karting require physical fitness?

Although karting might appear to be a relatively passive sport at first glance, it actually demands physical fitness. Drivers experience significant strain on their arms, neck, back, and entire body while racing at high speeds. Consequently, training sessions gradually build not only driving precision but also physical endurance. Physical conditioning in karting develops naturally through driving, supplementary workouts, and the progressive increase of physical load. This is particularly beneficial for children and young people, as it helps foster proper posture, coordination, and overall athletic fitness.

Which outdoor karting track is there in Vilnius?

One of the main outdoor karting tracks in Vilnius is Plytinės kartodromasThis is a full-scale karting track where training sessions take place in real outdoor conditions—featuring varied track surfaces, changing weather, and natural terrain. It is here that "Lenktynių linija" organizes regular karting training sessions designed to help drivers prepare for actual competitions. Training at an outdoor karting track allows drivers to gain valuable experience that proves highly beneficial when competing in karting championships.

How do you become a race driver?

The path to a racing career typically begins with karting. To become a racing driver, the most important step is to start training—either independently or as part of a karting team that establishes a clear athletic plan. Drivers first learn the fundamentals of karting and how to read the track, later progressing to tactics and handling competitive situations. As they gain experience, drivers eventually begin participating in karting races and championships, gradually making their way toward professional motorsport.

Is karting suitable as a long-term sport, rather than just a temporary phase?

While for many in the motorsport world karting serves merely as a starting point, some drivers choose to make it their long-term career path. Although karting is often associated with children and young people, tournaments open to adults take place all over the world. As a driver’s age, goals, or physical capabilities evolve, so too does the nature of their participation—affecting training intensity, the level of competition, and the racing classes involved. This is precisely why a karting team offers flexibility: drivers can progress at their own pace, ensuring that karting remains a meaningful, engaging, and competitive pursuit for as long as they wish.

How do I join the team?

To join the Lenktynių linija team, simply get in touch via email marty@gokart.lt or submit form on the website. After the initial contact, we will arrange a meeting to discuss your experience, goals, and expectations regarding karting. Prior experience is not required—the team welcomes both beginners and drivers who have already tried karting.

Do spectators have to pay for karting races in Lithuania?

No, karting races in Lithuania are free for spectators. The competitions take place at outdoor karting tracks, so anyone interested—whether family members, friends, or motorsport enthusiasts—can watch them. It is a great opportunity to see the sport up close, experience the race-day atmosphere, gain a better understanding of what racing on the track looks like, and perhaps even decide if you would like to try this motorsport yourself.

Do you need to own your own kart to start racing?

No, owning your own kart is not necessary. When starting out with a karting team, the equipment for training and initial races is usually provided by the team; this allows you to focus on learning, driving, and making progress, rather than on technical or financial matters. Purchasing a kart of one's own is typically considered at a later stage, once the driver has gained more experience and has a clear understanding of their goals in the sport.

Will I have to repair my kart myself during the race?

Ne, sportininkams tuo rūpintis nereikia. Kiekvienas Lenktynių linijos komandos narys treniruočių ir kartingų varžybų metu turi mechaniko palaikymą. Mechanikas atsakingas už techninę kartingo būklę, reguliavimus, remontą ir paruošimą startams. Tai leidžia sportininkui visą dėmesį skirti lenktynėms, taktikai ir važiavimui trasoje, neapkraunant savęs techniniais klausimais.
